Your baby’s day

Everything you’d otherwise try to remember.

Log with one tap, even with a baby in your arms. Nani turns it into the answers you need: when the last feed was, whether there are enough wet diapers, and what to tell the doctor.

Feeds

Breast or bottle, how long, and which side is next. Feeds space out as babies grow, and Nani shows the pattern.

Sleep

A one-tap sleep timer, naps and nights at a glance, and how much sleep is usual for your baby’s age.

Diapers

Wet and dirty, with the hydration sign that matters: 6 or more wet diapers a day after the first week.

Temperature

Log a reading and Nani says what it means for your baby’s age, and when it needs a doctor today.

Growth

Weight, length and head size over time, so every check-up has the numbers ready.

Crying diary

When crying happened, what you tried and what helped, so you learn your baby, together.

Why is my baby crying?

Safety first. Then calm, step by step.

When the crying won’t stop, it’s hard to think. The crying helper does the thinking with you: warning signs first, then the most likely reasons from your baby’s own log, then ways to soothe that suit their age.

Nani says

Crying is how babies talk, beta. We’ll work out what he’s saying, together.

Step 1 of 3

Why is Aarav crying?

First, is any of this happening?

Tick anything you see. If any of these is happening, get help now. Don’t wait to work out why he’s crying.

Month by month

Milestones, feeding and sleep, for your baby’s age.

Milestones follow the CDC/AAP checklists, explained the way you’d explain them at home. Pick an age to see what’s ahead.

By the end of 0–2 months, many babies

  • Smiles back when you smile or talk to them
  • Coos and makes sounds, not just crying
  • Watches your face as you move
  • Lifts their head briefly during tummy time

Every baby has their own pace. Tick them off in the app; if a few are missing for a while, Nani suggests mentioning it at the next check-up.

Something to try

Tummy time on your chest. Lie back and let your baby lift their head to find your face.

Feeding

  • Feed on cue: rooting, sucking on hands, turning towards the breast. Crying is a late sign.
  • 8 to 12 feeds a day is usual now, including at night.
  • No water, gripe water, janam ghutti or honey before 6 months. Milk has all the water a baby needs, even in summer.

Sleep

Most babies this age sleep 14 to 17 hours a day, in stretches of 2 to 4 hours.

  • On the back for every sleep, day and night.
  • In a cot or bassinet next to your bed for at least the first 6 months.
  • Keep the cot bare: no pillows (even a rai pillow), bumpers or soft toys.

Vaccinations

Every vaccine, right on time.

Nani follows the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) schedule from your baby’s birth date, adds each visit to your calendar, and reminds you the day before.

Daily care

The little things, done the safe way.

Step-by-step guides for the everyday: bath time, safe sleep, cord and skin care, with the traditions that help kept in, and the ones that harm gently left out.

Bath time

Two or three baths a week is plenty for a young baby.

  1. 1Sponge baths until the cord stump falls off, usually in 1 to 3 weeks.
  2. 2Test the water with your elbow: comfortably warm, 5 to 8 cm deep.
  3. 3Never leave the baby alone in water, not even for a moment.
  4. 4A gentle oil massage is a lovely tradition: plain oil, nothing in the nose or ears.

Skip talcum powder: it can be breathed in. And no kajal or surma in the eyes.

Safe sleep

Most sleep accidents can be prevented. These steps make every sleep safer.

  1. 1On the back for every sleep, day and night.
  2. 2In a cot or bassinet next to your bed for at least 6 months.
  3. 3A firm, flat mattress and a bare cot: no pillows, bumpers or soft toys.
  4. 4Keep the room comfortably cool, and the head uncovered.

No sleeping on a sofa or armchair with your baby: it’s the riskiest place to doze off together.

Cord & skin care

Clean and dry is all the cord stump needs.

  1. 1Fold the diaper below the stump so it stays dry and gets air.
  2. 2Nothing on the stump: no oil, haldi, ash or powder.
  3. 3Change diapers often and let the skin air-dry before the next one.
  4. 4Newborn spots and peeling skin are normal and settle on their own.

Redness spreading round the stump, pus, a bad smell or fever: see the doctor the same day.

Get help now if your baby

  • Is hard to wake or unusually floppy
  • Is breathing fast or struggling to breathe
  • Has a temperature of 38 °C or more (under 3 months)
  • Isn’t feeding, or has far fewer wet diapers

Call your baby’s doctor or 112. Don’t wait to work out why. In the app, these signs bring up a help card with one-tap calls.

And a check-in for you, too.

The weeks after birth are hard on mothers. Nani asks how you are, notices when low days keep coming, and gently points you to your doctor or Tele-MANAS (14416) when it’s more than tiredness.

Emotional well-being with Nani

General, evidence-informed guidance, always alongside your doctor, never instead of them. In an emergency, call 112.

Your baby is here. So is Nani.

Add your baby’s birth date and Nani sets up the rest: this month’s milestones, the next vaccines, and a log that’s ready for the doctor.
